About Welgelegen Boutique Guest House
Welgelegen Guesthouse is situated in a very quiet cul-de-sac in Gardens, an old and established district in the Cape Town city bowl. Cradled at the foot of Table Mountain, Welgelegen ('well placed' in Dutch) consists of two beautiful 19th Century houses. These have been lovingly renovated and decorated to reflect the uncompromising commitment to style by the owner, Fiona Evans. Welgelegen is stylish, spacious, vintage chic / contemporary and eclectically decorated to make your stay warm, comfortable and luxurious at the same time.
There are a total of 13 bedrooms each individually decorated to a high standard. Each room has air-conditioning, bar fridges, satellite television. dressing gowns and complimentary port. Welgelegen provides a delicious breakfast, and whilst it does not provide dinner options your hosts will make dinner reservations on your behalf at any number of restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
On any given beautiful day our court yard and plunge pool are a wonderful relaxing alternative to the bustle of the city. Here you are surrounded by lavender and iceberg roses with a view to the tip of Table Mountain. Your day could begin here with breakfast in the sun and end at dusk with a glass of one of the Cape's delicious Sauvignon Blancs.
The highlights of staying at Welgelegen are, one: the feeling of being at home in a luxurious yet informal setting, and two: its fantastic location and easy accessibility. Walk to the nearby, bustling Kloof Streets bursting with local life and many of Cape Town’s finest restaurants and bars. Perhaps take a stroll to the Company Gardens, via the National Museum and end up browsing through the colourful yet serious Pan African Gallery. A 15 minute drive in one direction will have you sunning on Camps Bay or one of the Clifton Beaches and in the other direction, the glorious Botanical Gardens of Kirstenbosch awaits you.
Eco and Social Awareness at Welgelegen
Welgelegen strives to reduce their environmental impact by recycling glass and plastics, conserving energy and using environmentally friendly products in the landscaped garden. In addition all clothes, discarded linen and towels are donated to Ons Plek, a local women's and children's shelter. Welgelegen is also involved in supporting Uthando, a proudly South African tourism initiative. We make donations towards a number of fund raising auctions throughout the year and also support Nazareth House, Air Mercy, St Lukes Hospice and Society for the Blind, Little Miracles and Rape Crisis.
