Penguins at Boulders Beach

Traditionally, one would not associate Penguins with the African continent. However, us Cape Townians are lucky enough to have them right here on our doorstep at Boulders Beach, Simons Town.

Back in 1983, A couple of African Penguins were spotted at Boulders Bay. A few years later they started to breed and well with today’s numbers at over 3000, the rest as the say, is history.

Visitors to Cape Town flock to see this rare species of sea bird, as its one of the only places where its possible to share the same beach and even swim with penguins.

As many guests of ours have found out over the years, these cute little birds bite, So please don’t attempt to stroke, cuddle or hold on to them while the waddle or swim!

All in all, a visit to cape town is not complete without a trip to see the penguins at Boulders beach.
